Northern Lights Safari
On winter evenings when the sky is clear you can see the beautiful Northern Lights flickering above Ilulissat. We will drive away from the blinding lights of the town and go out where the darkness is most intense for the best experience. Your guide will tell you all about what causes the phenomenon and serve a hot cup of coffee or tea under the stars.
Aurora Borealis is the night sky's most spectacular phenomenon. Solar storms above the polar region makes it possible to see the Northern Lights in Greenland, and the winter darkness let us experience it almost every day, periodically.
We follow scientific predictions in our planning of tours and in this way give you the best possible chances of going out on a tour with success. When there is good chances of seeing the northern lights, we will pick you up at the hotel and drive out to the darkest area in Ilulissat.
Here we can take pictures and enjoy the spectacular show when the colors are moving in waves, back and forth in the sky. If the predictions prevent us from starting the tour, we will cancel 1 hour before the tour starts. Naturally we will give you a chance to go on the next tour as soon as it is possible to set up with good chances of seeing the lights.
Remember to book your excursion in our shop or online, before closing hours at 4pm on departure day.
Aurora Borealis is an uncontrollable natural phenomenon and therefore we cannot guarentee succes on all of our tours.
