Nalluarsuk Adventure

On this combined hikking and helicopter exursion we enter an area in the backcountry of Ilulissat which few tourists will ever see.

15 km into the backcountry by the Nalluarsuk Lake lies our new build cabin that shall accommodate us during the tour. The area is typical Greenlandic; mountainous with soft fields and glimting lakes and untouched as far as you can see.

We begin the tour with a helicopter trip over the isolated terrain. From here we really feel what enormous and untouched area we are entering. After being dropped off at Nalluarsuk there will be some time checking in and having a cup of coffee while the guide cooks the lunch. During the afternoon we will canoe across the lake and go ashore on the other side from where we after a short climb have amazing views over the Icefjord. We hike in variating terrain - moss, loose rocks and bare field. There is no path or markings why a good physical condition is key for having the best experience and being able to enjoy the majestic nature. The enormous glacier front Sermeq Kujalleq - also known as Jakobshavn Isbræ - that produces all icebergs in Ilulissat is breaking the landscape 50 km away.

Our way back to Ilulissat the following day is with helicopter again.

Please notice:

A Travel insurance covering SAR operations is required for all participants.
The greenlandic terrain is tough for most hikers. Also for the experienced. We hike 15-20 km so you will need to be in great physical condition to join this trip, and previous experience with backcountry hiking is essential.
Bring good clothes made for hiking in several layers and your own water bottle.
There is no electricity or water in the cabin. We drink water from lakes and rivers.
