Kangia Coastline Hike
This is the beautiful hike that takes you along the Kangia Icefiord, past the old settlement Sermermiut, ”Ladies Gorge” and “Holms Hill”. While the guide talks about the life before the Europeans arrived, flora and fauna, geology and of course the ice. The lunch break takes place on Holms Hill, where the people from Ilulissat go on January 13th to welcome back the sun.
This is an incredibly beautiful hike from the colourful settlement of Ilimanaq to the abandoned cemetaries of the former families and cultures. Following the coast line north from Ilimanaq we have got all day to spot musk oxes in the terrain or humpback whales in the sea. From the highest point next to the Ilulissat Icefiord we will have the most amazing view of the massive icebergs right in front of us.Read more

After breakfast at the Eqi Glacier Lodge, we embark to walk the trail of French ethnologist and explorer Poul-Émile Victor up through the mountainous terrain. For each meter of altitude climbed, we are rewarded by an increasingly beautiful view. Over wind-blast ridges, through fertile valleys and along crystal-clear melt lakes we arrive at the almost moon-like landscape at the edge of the glacial till. Then at last we reach the inland ice sheet. Here you will sense the sheet’s enormous mass and the grandiose, harsh nature which covers almost 80% of Greenland.Read more
