Ilimanaq Glacier Adventure
* Assumes 1 night at Ilimanaq Lodge
This is the real adventure in Disko Bay.
On this trip we sail with a small local tour operator south out of Ilimanaq to Itilliup Ilua. We are dropped off on the wide sandy beach, after which we are driven in off-road UTVs across the plain and into the fjord system Tasiusaq, which has been a fishing area for many thousands of years. From here we sail further into between icebergs and high mountains until we reach the bottom of the fjord, where two glaciers and the Ice Sheet come into view.
We go ashore, eat our packed lunch with a glacier view, and then move onto the enormous ice cap.
Note
The tour departs at 9 am and arrives in Ilimanaq at approximately 4 pm. A packed lunch, as well as coffee and tea, is included. All participants must be at least 12 years old. This tour can only be booked in conjunction with an overnight stay at Ilimanaq Lodge.
The terrain is uneven, and we do not recommend this trip if you have a bad back. The trip takes place all day out in the Greenlandic countryside, where you alternate between driving a UTV, sailing in an open dinghy, and hiking up the glacier.

Countryside tour
*Assumes 1 night at Ilimanaq Lodge
The village tour is an essential part of a stay at Ilimanaq Lodge.
Here we learn about the village's rich history and culture from a local tour operator.
And not least, we learn from a local perspective about what it means to live and thrive in a small Greenlandic settlement at the end of the world. How do you get water and electricity here, where only about 50 people live, and where the frost sets in in September and breaks in May? Where do you get food? What do you do here at work as well as in your free time?

Tundra Hike
*Assumes 1 night at Ilimanaq Lodge
Join a local guide on this beautiful hike that goes north – up towards Isfjorden.
Throughout the hike we have fantastic views of Disko Bay and the icebergs, and if we are lucky we may spot animals such as arctic foxes, snow hares or musk oxen. Depending on the season there will also be various aromatic herbs and flowers.
The area has been inhabited for several periods and has a rich and exciting history, as evidenced by the numerous Inuit graves scattered throughout the landscape.
Your Greenlandic guide will ensure that you are in safe hands throughout the trip, and can tell you about the area and its history from a personal and local perspective.
Note
The tour departs daily at 10:00. A hot drink is included in the tour. If you wish to bring a lunch sandwich, it can be purchased from the reception at Ilimanaq Lodge.
